Monique J Huff Announces Her Candidacy for Dallas County Criminal Court 10

Today, I officially announce my candidacy for Judge of Dallas County Criminal Court 10, a Family Violence Court.

I was born in Dallas & raised in Mesquite. I went to undergraduate school at Florida A&M University, in Tallahassee, FL, where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Political Science and bachelor’s degree in Social Work. While attending school, I interned in the domestic violence shelter & the Leon County Sheriff's Office. I helped domestic violence victims & their families get emergency assistance & assisted with obtaining protective orders. After 4 years in Florida, I returned home to Dallas & attended Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law where I graduated with my law degree. While in school, I interned with Advocacy Inc., which brought me face to face with child victims of assault. I also interned with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office in their Family Violence Unit. After law school, I worked in a local family violence shelter helping victims & their families with emergency shelter, transition housing, & counseling. And finally, as a licensed attorney, I have defended individuals charged with both misdemeanor & felony family violence offenses.

I say all this because I truly believe my experience gives me a personal perspective on the impact of domestic violence on its victims, those accused of family violence offenses, their families, & the community.
I know that I can make a difference as a judge in Dallas County Criminal Court No. 10.

I believe this misdemeanor court has the opportunity to make a lasting transformation for all involved. I plan to initiate programs that educate Defendants & provide opportunities for healing. I want to provide resources for economic education, jobs, & counseling classes that are affordable.

Compassion
Justice
Respect

The courtroom can be a scary and intimidating place, but it has to be a safe space governed by the rule of law where every person is respected.

I am passionate about the impact I can have on my community. I am committed to my community’s growth, safety, & well-being.

I am Monique J. Bracey Huff & I want to be your candidate for County Criminal Court 10.
